Women Inspiring Women Forum 2022

Every year, from March 1 to 31, we celebrate the National Women’s Month where we recognize the role and contribution of women in nation-building and as agents of national development.

The role of women in society have progressed due to few brave women who initiated and fought for equal rights. More women are becoming financially literate and have access to savings, insurance, investment, and other financial products and services. These only prove that women should be active contributors to and beneficiaries of national development.

It has been a yearly tradition of the Department of Finance to organize a Women Inspiring Women Forum that serves as a venue to celebrate women exercising their choices, taking chances to make their voices heard, and benefitting from and trailblazing changes. On 31 March 2022, another Women Inspiring Women Forum was facilitated by the GFPS Secretariat and representatives from the Philippine Extractive Transparency Initiative (PH-EITI), wherein women leaders such as National Tax Research Center’s Executive Director Marlene A. Lucero-Calubag, Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas’ Deputy Governor Chuchi G. Fonacier, Land Bank of the Philippines’ President and Chief Executive Officer Cecilia C. Borromeo, and Department of Finance’s Undersecretary Valery Joy A. Brion were invited as guest speakers to share their stories of change, how they were able to challenge gender-related concerns in their respective careers and personal lives, and encourage other women to challenge stereotypes, stand up for their rights, and serve as pioneers of change.

79 female and 22 male employees from the Department of Finance and its bureaus and attached agencies participated in this activity.
