As part of Department of Finance’s celebration of the 2022 National Women’s Month, a one-day webinar entitled, “Understanding Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC): Concepts, Issues, and Concerns” was held on 22 March 2022 which was attended by 22 female and 16 male DOF employees via Zoom. The DOF invited 2 subject matter experts from the University of the Philippines – Gender Office. Ms. Kristel Gomez – Magdaraog facilitated the morning session where she reviewed the participants with the difference between sex and gender. She also discussed the concept of SOGIESC and the LGBTQIA++ situation in the Philippines. The afternoon session was facilitated by Mx. Giano Ray Potes wherein he explained the history and relevant policies of SOGIESC in Philippine context. Both facilitators used exercises and video materials to provide situational examples to the participants.
