President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board meeting on December 16, 2022.

PDP 2023-2028 shall guide the country’s socioeconomic development over the medium term. According to the President, the plan will pave the way for sustained development and address national issues, including job creation and poverty alleviation.

Finance Secretary and NEDA Board Executive Committee member Benjamin Diokno thanked President Marcos Jr. and congratulated the NEDA Board for the timely approval of the plan that was completed within six months into the President’s term.

“I commend the NEDA Board for putting together a comprehensive plan that will lay the course of our work for the next five and a half years. We also thank the President for his swift approval of the PDP 2023-2028, which we can now fully implement starting next year,” said Secretary Diokno.

The plan is guided by a systematic whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach and was developed through a series of consultations with key stakeholders and the general public.

It is framed by the Marcos administration’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda and is geared toward the realization of the AmBisyon Natin 2040, the country’s long term vision for development. Specifically, the plan aims to reinvigorate job creation and accelerate poverty reduction through sustained and inclusive economic growth.

The NEDA Board submitted to the Office of the President a draft executive order that would mandate government agencies to align programs and projects with PDP 2023-2028.
