Department of Finance Issues Warning on Fictitious Memoranda

The Department of Finance (DOF) would like to inform the public that certain letters, some bearing the DOF’s logo, are circulating, claiming that a certain “Finance Council” of the DOF has assessed, investigated, or evaluated bank transactions of individuals.
We refer in particular to a Memorandum No. 54-2016 dated February 11, 2016 addressed to Secretary Cesar Purisima from one Atty. Honesto Obosa, supposedly representing the Finance Council, claiming to have certified and investigated certain bank records.

The DOF would like to note there is no such Finance Council in existence. Further, there is no Atty. Honesto Obosa and Atty. Madeline Cojuanco connected with the DOF.
The DOF cautions the public against the spread of these inauthentic documents.
