Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno assured the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) community that the government will prioritize learning recovery in order to secure economic productivity.

“Rest assured that your government is committed to prioritize learning recovery in order to bridge the gaps that have widened as a result of the pandemic,” Secretary Diokno, who previously served as chairperson of the PLM Board of Regents, said during the university’s 56th Founding Anniversary on June 19, 2023 at the PLM Campus in Intramuros, Manila.

PLM is the first and only chartered and autonomous university funded by a city government.

According to Secretary Diokno, the PBBM administration will invest heavily in infrastructure, digitalization, and human capital development to boost economic growth and promote social and economic transformation, as envisioned in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.

“Investing in our people will yield exponential rewards not only for our citizens but for the economy as a whole,” Secretary Diokno said.

Last June 9, 2023, the economic team also announced that it is currently preparing the proposed budget for fiscal year 2024.

The proposed budget amounting to PHP5.8 trillion will be higher by 9.5 percent compared to 2023 and will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, food security, digital transformation, and human capital development.
