Carlos G. Dominguez
Secretary of Finance
Vice Chairman of Pag-Ibig Fund
Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, Chairman of the Pag-ibig Fund; Members of the Board of Trustees; Mr. Acmad Rizaldy Moti, Chief Executive Officer; men and women of the Pag-Ibig Fund: Good afternoon.
I remember being thoroughly impressed by the presentation made by the Pag-Ibig Fund in its 2019 annual report. It was a 3D animation exhibit that made the report not only clear but also compelling. I hope that all the other government agencies could demonstrate the same technological innovation, especially in presenting our achievements to the public.
2020 was a difficult year for everybody. Nevertheless, I am happy to note that in the face of all the challenges, the Pag-Ibig Fund has remained financially sound and poised to contribute even more in meeting the housing needs of our people.
I congratulate the Pag-Ibig Fund for its exemplary performance last year. The Fund’s housing loan disbursements in December 2020 have reached an all-time high for a single month. I look forward to hearing you surpass that level consistently each month thereafter.
This achievement does not only show increased homeownership among Filipinos. It also means that the Fund is able to take part in ensuring the safety of our people, especially during this time of a pandemic.
I am also pleased to know that nearly 17,000 members from the minimum wage and low-income sectors were able to access affordable housing loans last year through the Fund. Thank you for enabling more Filipinos to achieve their dream of building and owning a home.
Meanwhile, the Pag-Ibig Fund’s MP2 savings program has emerged as a popular investment channel among Filipinos. This underscores the trust and confidence of our people in this agency’s skills and dedication to serve its members. The MP2 adds to all our efforts to open up more investment opportunities for our countrymen.
The more small investors save their money by putting them in high-earning savings facilities such as the MP2, the closer we are to moving towards achieving President Rodrigo Duterte’s goal of financial inclusion and a comfortable life for all Filipinos.
We look forward to new records that the agency will achieve this year. The housing program is a key component in our economic recovery strategy. This should help create more jobs in the construction sector.
I trust that the Pag-Ibig Fund will be even more relentless in the coming period to close the housing gap and spur domestic activity.
To the men and women of the Pag-ibig Fund, thank you for the hard work and professionalism. Please continue to be a dependable partner of the Filipino people in achieving their milestones in life.
Thank you.
