government employees

Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go led the official launch of Ginhawa Go, the Government Service Insurance System’s (GSIS) newest microloan program, providing immediate, short-term financial relief to government employees and GSIS members.

“Sa paglulunsad ng Ginhawa Go, mayroon nang maaasahang solusyon ang ating mga kapwa government workers sa oras ng biglaang pangangailangan—na maayos, abot-kaya, at makatarungan,” Secretary Go said.

Crafted under the guidance of Secretary Go, the Ginhawa Go Loan Program complements parallel efforts by the Social Security System (SSS) to develop its own microloan initiative for private-sector workers. Together, these initiatives reflect the President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, social protection and financial stability for Filipino employees.

Under the program, qualified GSIS members may borrow from PHP 1,000 to PHP 50,000. Short-term loans of up to PHP 4,000 are payable within 30, 60, or 90 days, while loans ranging from PHP 5,000 to PHP 50,000 may be repaid over 3 to 24 months.

Interest rates are kept affordable at 6% to 7% per annum, computed in advance. Loan limits and rates vary based on membership type and length of paid premium contributions.

To protect borrowers and their families, the program includes a Loan Redemption Insurance (LRI), fully deducted in advance, which deems the loan fully paid in the event of the borrower’s death, provided the account is up to date.

Applications are processed exclusively through GSIS Touch, and approved loan proceeds are credited directly to the member’s GSIS eCard or ATM account, with notifications sent via email or SMS.

Meanwhile, loan repayments are made through mandatory payroll deduction, helping borrowers stay current and avoid penalties.

“Ang Ginhawa Go ay hindi lamang panibagong loan program ng GSIS. Ito ay proteksyon para sa mga government employees laban sa mapanganib at mapanlinlang na pagpapautang, at suporta upang mapatatag ang inyong kabuhayan,” Secretary Go said.

By expanding access to microloans, the government aims to reduce workers’ reliance on informal and high-interest lending, strengthen household financial resilience, and reinforce the welfare of both public- and private-sector employees nationwide.
