Finance Chief leads public auction of Discaya luxury vehicles
Advancing efforts to return ill-gotten wealth to the people

“May this serve as a warning to all. The Department of Finance will not tolerate any form of tax evasion, smuggling, or corruption that deprives people of vital revenues to support national development.”

At his first public event since being appointed Secretary of Finance, Frederick D. Go led the auction of PHP 103 million-worth of Discaya-owned luxury vehicles on November 20, 2025 to reclaim lost revenues from tax and duty leaks, which will be redirected towards public programs and projects.

The public auction is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s commitment to restore ill-gotten wealth to the people through stricter monitoring and customs enforcement.

The seven luxury vehicles were forfeited by the BOC Port of Manila on October 24, 2025 due to fraudulent Certificates of Payment (CPs) and the lack of import entry documents.

The vehicles inspected by the Finance Chief for public auction are: Toyota Tundra (2022), Toyota Sequoia (2023), Rolls-Royce Cullinan (2023), Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG (2022), Mercedes-Benz G500 Brabus (2019), Lincoln Navigator L (2021), and Bentley Bentayga (2022).

“Kasama natin yung mga pinagkakatiwalaan ngayon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos upang makabawi tayo kahit papaano sa mga nawala sa kaban ng bayan,” Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.

“Ito’y pinamumunuan ni Secretary Frederick Go. I’m glad that he’s here, very involved. He’s been a respected executive for the private sector, so we expect that the DOF team, along with the BIR and BOC, will do a much, much better job with this leadership,” he added.

Secretary Go thanked the Commissioner for his swift action on the matter, conveying the DOF’s full and steadfast support in ensuring that no imported goods––small or large––will enter Philippine borders without undergoing proper clearance.

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) created by the President to investigate alleged corruption, irregularities, and misuse of public funds was instrumental in identifying assets of individuals linked to the flood control issue.

“We commend the DOF, with Secretary Go and the Bureau of Customs for this free and open bidding that exhibits transparency and lawful trade,” ICI Chair Andres Reyes Jr.’ said.

Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao and representatives from the Commission on Audit (COA) also took part in the event.
