Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III denounced Wednesday the killing of another Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) official as he sought the assistance of law enforcement and investigative agencies in finding the perpetrators of the murder and putting them behind bars.

Albert Enriquez, chief of the assessment division of the BIR Revenue District Office No. 28 was shot dead by an unidentified man after he got out of his car on West Avenue in Quezon City around 7:30 AM near his office. The assailant and another man both sped off on a motorcycle.

“To the family of Mr. Enriquez, my deepest condolences on their loss,” Dominguez said. “We strongly condemn the killing of Mr. Enriquez and call on the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation to find the perpetrators behind this heinous act and bring them to justice soon enough.”

Earlier, a BIR director and an official of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) were also killed by unknown assailants in separate incidents.

Jonas Amora, who was the bureau’s regional director of Revenue Region 8-Makati City, was killed in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City by unidentified men onboard a motorcycle last Nov. 21.

Customs Deputy Commissioner Arturo Lachica, on the other hand, was on his way home last Nov. 17 to Caloocan City onboard his Toyota Altis with two BOC contractual employees—his driver Romulo Dumaua and bodyguard Ramon Hernandez—when attacked by a suspect wearing a face mask.
