QUEZON CITY – With growing concern on how to raise more revenues that will support the nation’s expenditures especially for the rehabilitation of calamity-stricken areas like Tacloban City and other Visayas areas, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) through Revenue Region (RR) No. 7, Quezon City headed by Regional Director Jonas DP. Amora sued six (6) of its delinquent taxpayers for unpaid deficiency taxes amounting toP57.30 million.

Charged with Willful Failure to Pay deficiency taxes were (1) LVS GLIMPEX PHILIPPINES CORPORATION and its President BONIFACIO V. LADIA; (2)MANLING UY LIM of LITTLE BEBE BABY PRODUCTS & ACC CENTER; (3) INOCENCIO D. HONRUBIA of HAVILAH ENTERPRISES; (4) AUTOHUB, INC., its President JEROME M. LAPUZ and Treasurer THERESA A. LAPUZ; (5) MA. ROWENA ROSE N. VILLAVICENCIO of WHITE GOLD PETROLEUM; and (6) YOSHIMOTO POLE CONSTRUCTION PHILS., INC. (YPCPI) and its President FLORANTE A. GALINATO.

The charges were made pursuant to the BIR’s Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program and RR No. 7’s thrust to pursue to a conclusion cases against its taxpayers with long overdue deficiency taxes due to the government.

Regional Director Amora said, “We intend to vigorously pursue cases against taxpayers with tax arrears or unpaid taxes. Make no mistake about it, we will collect the taxes due from these taxpayers and hale them to court if they give us no choice. Unpaid taxes stall delivery of government services, retard progress and development and eventually, impede nation-building.”

Since October this year, the revenue region thru its Legal Division headed by Atty. Romel C. Curiba filed six (6) complaints involving the collection of delinquent accounts: October 24, 2013 – LVS GLIMPEX PHILIPPINES CORPORATION and its President BONIFACIO V. LADIA with unpaid deficiency of P4.83 million for taxable year 2008; MANLING UY LIM, retailer of infant wear, P4.13 million (2007); November 14, 2013 – INOCENCIO D. HONRUBIA, wholesaler of goods, P14.46 million (2007); AUTOHUB, INC., its President JEROME M. LAPUZ and Treasurer THERESA A. LAPUZ, P1.32 million (2007); November 28, 2013 – MA. ROWENA ROSE N. VILLAVICENCIO, retailer of gasoline, P30.72 million (2006); andYOSHIMOTO POLE CONSTRUCTION PHILS., INC. and its President FLORANTE A. GALINATO, P1.84 million (2002).

To date, the said taxpayers have obstinately failed or refused to pay their long overdue deficiency taxes despite repeated demands and exhaustion of administrative remedies by the BIR.

Revenue Region No. 7, Quezon City Assistant Regional Director Jethro M. Sabariaga echoed the sentiment of Director Amora in regard to the management and disposition of delinquent accounts of the revenue region.
