Philippine economic managers and key members of the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” team led by Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III and high-level officials from the Government of Japan led by Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, met in Clark, Pampanga Tuesday (June 18) for the eighth meeting of the Philippines-Japan High-Level Joint Committee on Infrastructure Development and Economic Cooperation.
The Philippine and Japanese officials discussed ways of further expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly on infrastructure development and on peace-building initiatives and development for Mindanao. Both sides also discussed various areas of Japan-Philippines sectoral cooperation, including regional development; information and communications technology; energy; environment; public safety; and disaster prevention.
