SGBT STATEMENT ON NG 2009 FISCAL PERFORMANCE
18 February 2010
Finance Sec. Gary Teves said: "Our 2009 budget deficit of P298.5bln,
equivalent to 3.9% of GDP, is still lower than many of our peers in d
region. Except for Indonesia (-2.6%) and Singapore (-3.5%), our
deficit is lower than Malaysia (-7.8%), Thailand (-4.6%), and Vietnam
(-8.3%). We hope to sustain our fiscal performance thru d vigorous
implementation of d action plans of d BIR n BOC, n d attainment of our
privatization program. But we need d cooperation of Congress to
protect our fiscal gains from further erosion. Thanks."
